Treatment to improve urinary incontinence and vaginal tightness?.

Stress Urinary Incontinence and Urge incontinence is a  far more common issues in ladies than you think. A survey on this medical issue has shown that nearly 30% of females under 60 years old have the sysmptoms. It can be caused by many different factors but unfortunately the end result is always the same with varying degrees of severity.

What is Urinary incontinence and what causes Stress incontinence ?

Urinary Incontinence, Stress Incontinence and Vaginal Wall Laxity can be caused by a number of factors. Simply this is a weakening of the muscles in the vaginal wall and pelvic floor. The pelvic floor muscle group and the surrounding ligaments support the uterus, bladder and bowel.

The muscles of the pelvic floor  attach around the base of the spine to the tail bone and at the front they attach to you pubic bone. Passing through the muscles of the pevic wall is the Urethra from the bladder, the vagina connecting the uterus, and the lower bowl.
There are a number of known causes for pelvic floor weakness which may be improved with treatment.

• Pregnancy and difficult deliveries.
• Excessive weight gain.
• Slow moving bowels and constipation.
• Lifting heavy objects or repetative lifting
• Repetative sneezing, straining or coughing.
• Hormonal level changes due to menopause.
• Age - growing older our muscle strength decreases particularly if you are sedentary.

Non Surgical Vaginal Tightening Treatments

There are a number of treatments for urinary stress incontinence and urge incontinence that aslo may help with other issues including vaginal dryness and vaginal wall laxity. Commonly UTI’s and BV can also be problematic and many of these issues may be helped by treatment.

Vaginal Tightening Creams and Gels

There is no research published that definitively substantiates claims that creams and gels have any lasting results. Creams and gels for vaginal tightening are topical meaning they are applied on the inside of the vaginal wall. Coverage first of all would be questionable ? Secondly vaginal elasticity and muscular strengthening have not been proven. This is why we do not recommend this type of treatment for ladies wishing to get a longer term result.

Pelvic floor exercises.

We all know from going to the gym or exercising that repeated exercise can build muscle. Pelvic floor exercises are commonly used after giving birth and can help if done regularly and correctly. We would always recommend exercises and indeed after treatment we give exericse advice along with our preferred vaginal tightening treatment HIFU ( High Intensity Focused Ultrasound). You can find plenty of videos and information online about this set of daily exercises.

Laser Vaginal Tightening

This treatment works from the inside using a vaginal wand that is inserted into the vagina. The wand is a high power fractional pixel CO2 laser. The laser is used to heat the inside wall of the vagina in a very localised area the beam touches. This causes thermal heating in the immediate area encouraginging the formation of new collagen in the tissue.

Vaginal Tightening with HIFU

Our preferred treatment for urinary and stress incontinence, vaginal dryness and laxity.

An abbreviation for High Intensity Focused Ultrasound - HIFU is an ultrasound wave emitted from a probe inserted inside the vagina. The probe has different cartridge heads that emit waves that penetrate to different depts within the skin and underlying muscles.  This is a thermal therapy which gives a consistent uniform coverage and depth better than many other types of treatments. The heat that is produced within stimulates collagen production which works to tighten the cells of the skin and muscles causing growth and repair.

HIFU has been used in medical treatments for many years and has treated many hundreds of thousands of people. In recent years HIFU has become popular in cosmetic applications for skin tightening and muscular laxity.

How HIFU works for vaginal tightening

Studies have shown that HIFU regenerative thermal therapy works best at producing new collagen between 60-70 degrees. HIFU at present is the only treatment we know that can produce the optimised temparatures at the required depth without heating the skins surface.
High Frequency Ultrasound operates at above 20 000 Hz sound waves and this ultra sound energy is directed to different depths of the skin and muscles by focusing the waves at depths between 1.5mm and 4.5mm. The focused energy causes cell change which results in the kick start of the healing process producing Collagen and Elastin. Both are factors in cell repair and growth. As young new cells are produced the tightening effects may be seen.
HIFU is not a laser treatment and does not cut the skin in any way. It operates at a depth below the skins surface between 1.5 and 4.5 mm which can be controlled using our latest state of the art HIFU equipment.

Does HIFU Vaginal Tightening Work?  What are the results?

From our personal experience and that of our patients we are seeing great results both in the short term and the longer term. We recommend up to 3 treatments each 3 months apart in the first year to see the best result. After that one treatment every two years to maintain the effects.

As our bodies are different results also differ from person to person. from our experience some immediate results can be felt and this improves over time.
Our patients report :
* Improved bladder retention during exercise
* Improved bladder retention overall during day to day activities
* Feeling of strengthened pelvic floor muscles
* Improved intensity and lubrication during sexual activities
* Less anxiety
* Less occurence of Bacterial Vaginosis
* Less Occurence of Urinary Tract Infections

Patient experiences of HIFU Vaginal Tightening at Femi-Logic

Patient A

Well my first treatment is complete and I have to say I was surprised. After getting over the initial embarrassment of taking my knickers off and lying on the bed I soon relaxed.

So the question your probably thinking is did it hurt? Was it uncomfortable?
No. I felt no pain, I felt a warm sensation which at one point we reduced but it certainly was not painful.
At one point the feeling I felt was like cystitis - when you feel like you need to wee and there is a burning sensation (sounds worse than it is I promise) at another point it felt like pressure inside.

Would I do it again? Yes without doubt.
The next 72hrs I may experience swelling and discomfort but hopefully it will be as pain free as the treatment.

UPDATE:
Had this painless treatment just over a week ago and managed to skip in an exercise class without running to the toilet 10 times today... also noticed a different when sneezing ... still early days but have noticed a big difference 👍

Patient B

Morning… Just want to feedback my first treatment on the Femi-Lift 💚.

Like most women, despite having children, going for smears and getting our private lady parts out it’s still a daunting experience for some of us, however Clare was great at putting my mind at rest.

I’m a great believer in trying treatments, to enable us as practitioners to tell our story and be honest about what to expect so here it goes:

A little warmth at times was felt when power was increase, however i had the option for it to be reduced following increasing it further when a little discomfort was felt.

I felt a sensation similar to breast feeding, tightening on the muscles or what I would describe as a light period pain

Would I have a second treatment?
I certainly would, it’s not put me off at all.

Patient C

Two weeks ago I completed my second treatment of Femilift and I can feel the difference. I thought the first treatment had worked, dribbling through exercise had reduced and sneezing had become less embarrassing.

The embarrassment and anxiety I felt the first time I had the treatment had gone, I knew what to expect and felt more comfortable having this procedure.

Today I have been trampolining with my children and was able to join in having fun with them without being becoming irritated every time they asked me to join in; in fear of wetting myself.

Life is on the up, even my husband has noticed. One last treatment to go in 3 months but this has already had such a positive impact on my life.
